Inspirational Quotes & Stories: Self
Development
Self-image transformation, becoming aware of your trueself, begins with
the willingness to accept that limitlessness, unity, forgiveness and
love are things you truly desire in your life. Self-image transformation
means changing the way you perceive or see yourself. For this to occur
you do not need to change what you do, you simply need to change your
perception of who you think you are. You do not need to change the
outside environment or how others think, act or react. You simply need
to change your mind. Because it is an inner change, you have the final
and ultimate decision on whether or not this is something you truly want
and desire. A little willingness to obtain this is all you'll ever need.
As you'll soon recall, peace is eternally available to you. Your
recognition of its availability is all that is needed for you to obtain
and experience peace. As peace is eternally available to you, so too are
limitlessness, unity, forgiveness and love. They are eternally available
to you because these are aspects of your trueself. Again, it is simply
your willingness to obtain and experience them that will allow them to
manifest in your life. The more you believe them to be available to you,
the more you will see them being manifested in one way or another in
your life. Slowly, what you once judged, you will now forgive. Who you
once feared, you will now love. What once separated you from your
brother will now join you. And what once caused you confusion and chaos
will now bring understanding and peace.

How would you like to give up your limited ego-self and replace it with
an infinite Godself? How would you like to give up nothing and get
everything in return? Would you like to give up judgment and receive
forgiveness, give up fear and receive love, give up separation and
receive unity, give up confusion and chaos and receive peace of mind and
joy? This is God's offer to you, but it is your choice through free will
whether to accept it or not. God offered you this when you were created.
It is your inheritance. It is your essence. It is your truth. There is
only one thing that you need to obtain everything. You must be willing
to offer it. Offer your brother or sister what you want to experience.
For you and your brother and sister are one, and what you offer to them
you gift yourself.

Acceptance of knowledge is the recognition that your highest will and
God's will are one. The manifestation of this recognition is the state
of peace. A little willingness to be open to this possibility is all
that you need. If you choose to knock on the door, it will be opened,
but you can also choose to recognize that there is no door. There is no
door because there are no barriers between you and your creator. The
only barriers you will ever encounter are those you believe still exist.
Note that you are not judged for any barriers you create. A little
willingness and a knock on the door is all it takes to remove any
barrier, regardless of its physical, mental or spiritual manifestation.

You are as God created you: perfect, awake and whole. You simply haven't
let yourself remember this. You can choose to forget it, but you can't
change it. Your natural state is to be joyful and at peace. However, you
have learned to accept stress, anxiety, anger, and judgment as natural,
yet the complete opposite is true. This is an unnatural state in which
you choose to live, and there is a place in your heart that knows this
to be true. There is a place in your heart that knows that feeling
stress, anxiety, anger and judgment are unnatural. These are just the
illusions you have chosen for your dream. You have chosen to fall asleep
and dream, and someday you will choose to awaken. My friend, in your
heart you know that the alarm clock has sounded and that it is now time
to wake up. However, it is up to you to decide how many times you will
choose to push the snooze button.

Before I continue with my story, let me say that this experience
instilled in me the lesson that when the teacher is ready the student
will appear, and when the student is ready the teacher will appear.
During the dinner conversation, I heard something different. I listened
and understood concepts that until then I believed to be unavailable to
mortal man. Olaf spoke of forgiveness, peace, love, religion, death and
God in such a simple and non-judgmental way that I was truly in awe.
Even though I was in awe, somewhere within I understood that everything
he said, I already knew! It was more of a sense of a memory reawakening
than a lesson being taught. I said to myself, "I don't know what this
man is reading or what he is doing, but I am going to find out and copy
every single thing he has done and read every single book he has read."

Conversely, the more you analyze, focus on, and implement what you want
to become, the closer you will come to its manifestation. Again, the
more time you spend remembering that the qualities you want to express,
you already have, the more power you will give yourself. As you express
this power, it will become more real to you. As you continue to increase
the expression of your power, it will become more natural to you. Thus,
the traits you once felt you did not have, will slowly be recognized as
natural expressions of your trueself. You will look back and understand
that it was not that you never had these traits, but simply that you had
chosen not to express them. As you understand this of one trait, you
will understand that this is possible of all traits you believe you need
for a fulfilling life. Understand that you already have all traits that
you believe you need for a more fulfilling life. Herein lies the
beginning of the recognition of your Godself.

The experience made me think back to the days when I was a kid and young
adult, and I would also answer a sneeze with "God Bless You." Somewhere
on my journey to adulthood, not only had I dropped the "God" from my
response to someone sneezing, but many times after hearing a sneeze I
wouldn't even reply with "bless you." This experience got me thinking
about how beautiful that response was, and how great it would be for me
to bring it back into my life, and the life of all sneezers. I silently
promised myself that, regardless of whether or not I felt comfortable
responding in such a manner, I would reintroduce it into my life. It was
a beautiful response and I now knew that I wanted to use it in my life
and share it with others.

"When I was young
and free and my imagination had no limits, I dreamed of changing the
world. As I grew older and wiser, I discovered the world would not
change, so I shortened my sights somewhat and decided to change only my
country.
But it, too, seemed
immovable.
As I grew into my
twilight years, in one last desperate attempt, I settled for changing
only my family, those closest to me, but alas, they would have none of
it.
And now as I lie on
my deathbed, I suddenly realize: If I had only changed myself first,
then by example I would have changed my family.
From their
inspiration and encouragement, I would then have been able to better my
country and, who knows, I may have even changed the world."

Only in the delusional mind can there exist levels of illusions. In the
world of illusions, there are many steps you can take. All directions,
regardless of their outward manifestations, lead to truth. There is not,
and this I repeat with absolute respect and love, there is not, nor will
you ever take, a step back on your journey. My friend, you have been
taught that you can take two steps forward and one step back, and that
you can regress from your path. In the world of illusions this is true,
but in the world of truth this is an illusion. My friend, it is in part
a result of this learned belief that you sometimes judge yourself, your
brother, your sister and God. My friend, every single step you take
regardless of the number or outward manifestation is a step toward
knowledge and truth. Regardless of the time it takes and distance you
choose to travel, all roads lead to truth. Even the simplest recognition
that there is no journey will end any and all journeys. Regardless of
where you are on your journey, be it on the hills of the Himalayas, or
inside prison walls, all journeys can end with the simple recognition
that there is nowhere else you need go. Any and all journeys end with
the recognition that you need not take one more step. And you will not
curse the journey for having you search for so long, but you will bless
it, for you will know that it is because of it that you are now home.

Do not resist your negative emotions or feelings because it is healthy
to feel and experience them. This was very much an issue for me. There
was a time when I believed that it was "not spiritual" to deal with
negative emotions or feelings. I forgave many illusions before really
understanding and acknowledging their illusionary nature. I swept them
under the rug; and when it was time to clean up, there was a lot of dust
to deal with. I truly believed that all negative emotions and feelings
were illusions and, when involved in an argument, I would simply release
them by forgiving the person in my mind so that the argument would not
escalate. I would immediately release all negative emotions and feelings
because I understood that what the individual was really looking for was
love. This, in its purest form, is the Godself's way of dealing with an
individual. This, in its purest form, will always bring peace. All this
is great as long as you bring to the surface what it is you are feeling.
So don't feel like you're not being spiritual simply because you feel or
express negative emotions. It is simply a part of your journey, and all
of the journey's parts are necessary for its completion.

Allow me to offer you a way to live more peacefully in the moment. Try
looking at a brother you have never met and instead of calling him a
stranger, call him a friend. Instead of judging him for what he looks
like, wears, does, acts or reacts, or who he seems to be, simply look at
this stranger and know him as a friend. Outwardly, you might consider
this possibility and say, "big deal, what could changing one word and
seeing a stranger as a friend possibly do?" I will share with you that
this simple act would completely change your world. You might say that
there is "no way that such a small shift could completely change my
world." For on a foggy day not so long ago, I also verbalized these same
thoughts. But today I invite you to give your heart honestly to this
effort for just one moment in time.

Growth can be a
detoxifying process in which things will need to come up, out, and
looked at before they are released. All these behaviors, all these
illusions that we, as a society, as families and as individuals are
choosing to go through at this moment in time are necessary to bring us
to the point of recognizing, and remembering that this is not who we
are. The illusions are necessary for us to remember that this is not how
we want to live our life, not how we want to raise our children, not how
we want to interact with each other, not how we want to spend our time,
and that this is simply not who we truly are.
Understand that any day that you have perceived as difficult is actually
a gift that is offered by your higher self. It is a gift because your
Godself is trying to physically and mentally show you the activities and
parameters you are supporting that are "making you" react to the
environment in such a manner. Sooner or later you will see what the
Godself is trying to show you. When you do, these difficult days will
turn into beautiful days filled with miracles.

In every situation,
regardless of its physical manifestation or your perception of it, you
have the opportunity to choose peace. You might not recognize this, yet
the awareness of this possibility is available within your mind. My
friend, if you look into your past, you will recall situations that once
brought you thoughts and emotions of stress and pain that you now deal
with in a more peaceful manner. The same situation may occur today, but
your reaction to it is more positive. You simply realized that there was
a better way of dealing with it. A better and more mature way of dealing
with a situation brought you feelings of understanding and peace.
Looking back, you see that the ability to choose peace in such
situations had always been available. By dealing with the block, you
were able to find peace in a situation where you once did not even
consider peace as a possibility. In doing so, you dismantled another
block to your awareness of the presence of the state of peace. As you
continue to dismantle different blocks, you will find that the state of
peace is always available to you in every situation, in every moment. It
lies there waiting for your recognition of it. Once recognized, it is
all you will desire. You will desire peace in every situation, and
because you desire peace, you will obtain and experience it. Now and
then, blocks may come up again, but you will quickly remember what it is
you truly desire, and when you do, you will have it. When such blocks
appear in your life, you will no longer curse their appearance or feel
unlucky because of their manifestation in your life. In fact, once you
see them, you will now thank and bless them, for you now have the
knowledge that these blocks are really just offering you an opportunity
to understand where the awareness to the presence of peace and love is
blocked in your life. Once you understand and acknowledge this gift,
these blocks will turn into blessings, and love will replace all that
you once found unlovable.

Some people treat
positive experiences in their lives as gifts, not as lessons. The same
people have the tendency to treat negative experiences in their lives as
lessons and not as gifts. Some say it is a gift if you learned a lesson.
But if you do not learn a recognizable lesson from what you perceive to
be a negative experience, is it still a gift? Sure it is! It is a gift
regardless of whether you learned the lesson or not because the
experience itself has brought you one step closer to recognizing what
the experience is trying to offer. Because of the experience, you are
now a step closer to "getting it," and because you are now a step closer
to "getting it" it was helpful and useful in getting you to the next
step. As a result, it could be considered a gift.

Much of your
progress forward, new ideas and lessons will not come in exactly the
form the mind expects. Some people simply give up because they cannot
see any correlation between what is happening in their lives and their
wishes, hopes and dreams. Even the opposite of what you think you want
might be happening, and the ego has taught you to judge, curse and hate
the opposite of what you think you want. To the ego, the opposite of
what you want is bad and unwelcome. To the Godself, every moment,
regardless of its physical manifestation, is a gift and a step in the
right direction.

Many people who
resist change need a helping hand in expanding their perceptions of
reality. Gently assist those who are closing themselves off to change
and growth to expand. As you help them expand, you will see that their
judgments of your life and the way you have chosen to live it will also
lessen. As you gently help them expand, they in turn will give you more
freedom, but not because you are doing anything different in your life,
but because they are simply more open to change, to growth and
acceptance of others. Change and acceptance of others is a natural
expression of personal growth. As you free your brother, you free
yourself, for you and your brother are one in the same. And this will be
as great a lesson for you as it will be for him.

One night of
focusing and obtaining clarity will save you weeks, months or even years
of confusion. When you start feeling dissatisfied with your life or
current situation, take a night for yourself, quiet the mind and ask
your soul how you can make these feelings clearer. Fine-tune the picture
in your mind. Take time to clarify the issues. Put these thoughts on
paper. Be precise. The more precise you can be, the quicker you can gain
clarity. Such clarity will assist you in making better decisions and
save you time.

Inspiration for a Physical Life by Helen DaVita
Imagine hearing the clear resonance of a small bell being rung from the
top of a snow peaked mountain. The air is pure and there is no other
sound. See yourself ringing that bell and notice the invigoration you
feel. Note what is beneath your feet and see the tiny villages on lower
ground. Inhale the pureness and the peace. On your terms and in the
physical world, this is as close an experience to feeling the higher
vibrations as I can offer at this time.
Now is always the time to consider your self, your motivations and your
deeds. Consider the issues that interest you, that arouse great sympathy
and compassion and consider how you can contribute to the welfare of all
who exist physically – including you. Your soul journey is the most
important passage you will make and it must be fed from your heart.
Learn how to be still with nature and be still with your heart.
Do not make the mistake that a life of charity to others is your only
journey. The man who spends every day tending his parched piece of soil
in the hope of a few beans for his family has a journey as important as
the healer who can help the infirm be whole again.
Your journey will never be the same as another’s. You can do much to
learn amongst all people and all creatures. Sometimes you may experience
the unpleasant and you can then know how to overcome many things and to
learn how to enhance life.
Take time to love the oneness of the physical world and all that beholds
you that has come from the source. Take time to know that your energy
vibration changes as you learn your own spirituality and enjoy it change
as your time progresses. For you can only imagine what it must be to
touch a colour or to taste each sound – but it will one day be known to
you all – but at a time you cannot choose. Time is what you know and
what you have in the physical World – take it with love and use it
wisely.
The spiritual world asks that you trust us and let us guide you. At
times you may not feel we are close but we are indeed. At those times of
quiet and often seemingly emptiness we can be heard quite loudly.
However, your consciousness may need work and when you are closed in
communication, it is difficult to hear or to see. At these times it will
help greatly to lift your vibration. You can also reflect and look
forward at the same time and in this moment you are most energetic. This
physical life is a very creative time for you.
Immense love, joy and learning will always await you but are not fully
rewarded until you know how to harness your physical spirituality to its
greatest power. This will always be in your grasp.
